Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sourdough discard

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup warm water

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast

  • 1 cup marinara sauce

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • Your choice of toppings (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, etc.)

  • 1 tablespoon of butter

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a large bowl, combine the sourdough discard, flour, warm water, olive oil, salt, sugar, and yeast.

    • Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

    • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it ferment overnight in the refrigerator.

  2. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  3. Shape the Dough:

    • The next day, allow the dough to come to room temperature and punch it down to remove air bubbles.

    • Roll the dough into a thick circle or square, approximately 12 inches in diameter.

    • Butter and oil your deep dish pizza pan, take your pizza dough and start pressing it along the bottom and up the sides.

  4. Assemble the Pizza:

    • Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the dough.

    • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.

    • Add your desired toppings.

  5. Bake:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.

  6. Serve:

    • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

    • Enjoy your homemade deep dish sourdough discard pizza!
